Christine Boswell
Director
Christine completed a HND in Food Development and Production and a BA in Food Manufacturing Management at Lancaster University after which she gained her first technical role within the meat industry. Her career progressed quickly and she gained lots of experience in a number of technical roles within food manufacturing. After this and following completion of the NEBOSH certificate and Diploma as well as other health and safety qualifications, she gained employment as the Health and Safety Manager for a charity in Stockport.
During her last employed job, Christine was asked to deliver food safety and health and safety training. The training was a huge success and Christine realised there was a big gap in the market for innovative learner focussed training with a fresh, energetic approach.
Christine went on to gain her Certificate of Education at night school and in 2006 she left employment and set up her own training company. The business offered a wide range of health and safety and food safety training at all levels from 1 to 5. This included classroom based courses as well as e-learning and NVQās.
Christine loved the challenge of making health and safety and food safety training (that can have a reputation for being a bit dull and dry), interesting, fun and engaging. Her passion for training shone through and she always (and still does) loves coming up with new ideas for her teaching.
This business went from strength to strength, with the client base and profits increasing year on year. The business had a very strong focus on excellent customer service and flexibility, often delivering training across different shifts, including nights.
In 2012 Christine made the decision to sell the training business to a larger company who saw the potential for further growth.
After a short break, to spend time with her young family, Christine began her new company Progress Safety Ltd maintaining the same client focussed, hardworking approach.
Now in its eighth year, the business has built up and retained a large client base. Progress Safety Ltd offers a wide range of food safety and health and safety consultancy services as well as higher level, e-learning face to face and remote training. Based near Manchester, Progress Safety work with businesses across the UK as well as abroad.
Often when Christine is introduced to auditors by her clients they remark āChristine isnāt just a food safety consultant, she is part of our teamā.
That is how she likes to be thought of ā a supportive, problem solving extension to her clients teams, always there when they need her.
Outside of work Christine loves to travel and go for long walks with her dog Jeff. There is always a trip in the pipe line or a travel story to tell.
